1pm-2pm - Footwork & Styling
Men's workshop with Juan Calderon
Ladies' workshop with Christina Piedra
Did you know that footwork combinations are called shines? This is because during shines is the moment in the dance when you are free to strut your stuff, basically it is your time to shine! Shines should be fun to do, but for many they can be intimidating, overwhelming and even downright scary. If you are uncomfortable with your footwork ability & want to get better so you can finally shine, this is the class for you! Ladies, learn how to use your arms & body to make footwork look sexy & feminine. Feel confident when your partner lets go! Men learn how to do footwork in a masculine way. You will no longer fear doing open shines! This workshop will start you on your way to becoming a superstar at footwork as well as enhance your overall dance technique. So stop standing still, giving up or holding up the walls...it's your time to shine!
2pm-3pm - Turn Patterns (Intermediate & Advanced Separately)
Intermediate Level Smooth Turn Patterns with Sexy Styling: Smooth leading & graceful following - make your dancing flow nicely from one move to the next...learn how to look effortless, fluid & smooth! Ladies learn how to complement the leads with sexy & elegant styling.
Advanced Funky Turn Patterns with Sexy Styling: Unique & out of the ordinary turn patterns with locks, flicks, fake outs & directional changes - fun, challenging & funky! Upgrade your current patterns and stand out on the dance-floor. Ladies, learn how to follow these intricate moves and add some sexy, playful styling as well!
3pm - 3:30pm - Break/Intermission
3:30pm-4:30pm - Body Movement & Isolations - Afro Cuban: Loosen up your body & learn how to dance to the percussion in so many of our favorite Salsa songs. Part of what makes Latin Dancing so rhythmic & sultry is the very thing that intimidates many dancers - Body Movement. Salsa is a great example of a Latin Dance that allows for, and at times demands, freedom of movement & body control with isolations. However, these skills can be difficult to understand and to many difficult to master. But with the right stretches, exercises & technical breakdown, anyone can learn to master the art of body movement! Achieve the body control that is crucial to smooth, clean body movement. With practice & effort you too can soon be letting loose on the dance-floor and adding this much needed element to your dancing! So add some spicy flavor to your dancing...learn how to move your body in ways you hadn't before!
4:30pm-5:30pm - Dips, Tricks & Lifts: Acquire the proper technique behind those hot dips & tricks! Learn some new dips to change things up to end your dances, & learn some creative tricks to add to your repertoire! Whether you are just looking for some nice moves to use social dancing or you want some exciting moves to use in a performance, this class is for everyone because we will be teaching different levels/variations of each move so everyone can achieve their goals for their level!
